Best regards, Clarence Clarence Generally it is not safe, coated papers have a habit of sticking to the fuser with expensive repairs to follow. You should only use coated papers that are specifically recommended for lasers. Same applies to transparencies. Tony |

Printing with a color laser printer on ink jet photo paper ?
It is not recommended and can be downright bad for the printer, and
there is no advantage. Some coating used on inkjet papers can: 1: melt or singe when they are heated on the laser fuser 2: can transfer or coat and make slick some parts, like the transfer drum or belt 3: may not allow the toner to stick properly to the paper and cause the toner to transfer to the wrong parts of the printer 4: cost a lot more than equivalent laser papers designed for laser/color laser printing So even if the paper doesn't cause damage, why bother? writes Hi there, What about printing with a color laser printer on ink jet photo paper ? Is it safe for the printer ? Don't do it. The coating can come off and knacker the printer - or parts thereof. Get some proper laser paper. For matt output I quite like Xerox's 100gsm Colortech, which is readily available in A4 and A3. For glossy I've used a fair bit of HPs soft glossy paper, Data Copy have recently brought out a 160gsm glossy laser paper which is quite nice, they have a similar matt one at IIRC 135 gsm which I have yet to try. -- Timothy |
