Compaq e-pc D510 (pentium 2.4MHZ, etc) - RAM query
Hello
I am getting an odd ram problem with a 2003 Compaq e-pc D510 (pentium 2.4MHZ, etc) . It was advertised as having 256MB PC2100 Ram in it when we got it a few days back, and worked fine, if a bit limited with this amount of RAM.. I got another stick of PC2100 separately to boost ram to 512MB and that is where the problems started with lockups and crashes. I subsequently tried yet another stick of PC2100 with the same results. I then scanned it using CPUz and the crucial scanner. They reported that the original Ram supplied which I verified by checking the stick wasin fact Infineon (with an Hewlett Packard sticker on it, and rated at PC2300 (and rated to 142MHz). I need to increase RAM in this machine, so as I am a bit out of practice, I am thinking of replacing what is there with some PC2700 (either 2 x 256 or 1 x 512 ). Anyone had any similar experiences with these machines, and their tolerance to RAM ? any advice anyone ?? |
