Default Proliant 2000 or 2500?

Sir,

maybe this information will give you the required information to decide
wether it's a Proliant: 2000 or 2500:

- It's a rackmounted server for a 19"-Rack
- the motherboard has a sticker reading "Replace with spare part No.
165707-001". This means it is "Basepan assy,RM5U"
- However a spare part motherboard that looks exactly the same reads
"Replace with spare part No. 165677-001." This is a system I/O-board
(motherboard)for Proliant 2000/4000.

I will try to upload 2 images of the server and the motherboard later to
http://www.ralph-guenter-bruns.de/compaq later this evening.

A 2000 is either a very LARGE tower, or a very LARGE rack mounted box (7U).
It has P5 pricessors (2 max, sort of) and 512MB memory support (when the mem
expantion board is used). It uses FPM ECC gold simms and has nothing but
EISA slots in it.

A 2500 is the same size as a 1600, ML370, etc. It has max processor support
for 2 PPro 200, or 2 PProOD 333 processors. There were also PII 333
conversion kits available. It has PCI and EISA slots, and uses EDO ECC
DIMMS, up to 1GB (4 x 256).
