Default Memory Questons???

Can a fast DDR 500 with CL3 basically be clocked down to a DDR400 CL2?
Approxiamtely, what is the oveclocking potential of LL DDR400 CL2?

and are the DDR 500 chips just good quality picked over DDR400 chips?

Thanks, just trying to put these issues to rest in my mind, before deciding
on what to get.

My best guess & analogy at doing this would be like getting an 8X video
card, and then sticking it into a motherboard only capable of 4X ...
why spend the doe on an 8X video card to begin with... ?

Unless you MotherBoard supports DDR 500, just get reasonable quality DDR
400, and read the URL...

There is a lot of other places that the doe will more positively affect
performance.

What I want to do, is use the DDR400 on a Giga GA-8KNXP at 400MHz most of
the time, but experiment with overclocking to DDR500 get a feel for the
performance difference.

To get the best chances of this, would I be better of getting DDR500 memory,
and then I could run it at DDR400, boosting it to DDR500 when necesary?
