Anyone know of anywhere that stocks the 8500?
I have a modest system (my main one is in for repair) that has a crappy GF4
MX400 and it's giving me a headache. So, I thought I'd replace it with a Radeon 8500, as I had one in a system a while back that I'd still be using now had it not been taken out in a power surge. But I cannot find them for love nor money (I'm in the UK) - I found one at OCUK, but it was...wait for it....£150!! As this is an occasionally used system, I don't want to spend too much on it, but I will be without my main system for at least six weeks, and I need to use this one, but I can't for long periods as it is. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced card (if I can't find an 8500) that will comfortably manage 1600x1200@85Hz on a 19 or 21"? I cannot justify spending more than about £50. I have found a couple of 8500s on eBay, but I've always been wary about buying hardware that way - I prefer to purchase it new, that way I've some comeback. Thanks -- persona non grata |
