9800 Pro, no question about it.

www.tomshardware.com has a good up-to-date section on the current VGA cards
around.

Agree. The FX5900XT is waaayyyy overpriced at $400+.

$400? I don't know where you are shopping but Newegg has them for $188 with
free shipping.

Why not the 9800XT, I realise this is more expensive, but the same VGA
charts also show that it has superior performance over the 9800 Pro, the
question is if it is worth the extra money.

9800XT - there is about a $150~250 difference in price there.
