Fuser too cold

SOme lasers have a seperate fuser mechanism. If the printer is very old say more than 4 years and its not the type where you replace most of the important parts when you change cartridges I'd suggest you consider junking it and buying a new one. Any way you go about it its likely to cost you money. It is possible that the fuser (heater) has a fuse or circuit breaker but you'll either have to take it apart or get a service manual. Check Ricoh's web site. cheers claus : |

It may be possible to get the necessary
parts from a copier repair shop. I used to work as a copier repair tech and fixed laser printers quite often. Check to see if the thermistor is good also and that would keep a good bulb from getting hot. |

Go to a used store and hunt down an old one like yours. Keep it for spare
parts. If it works better than yours, keep yours for spare parts. "cvthiel" wrote in message ... Thanks for the reaction all of you. I think the fuser is serparated from the tonercartridge and is a quartz halogen lamp. The printer is about 8 years old. The cost of a replacement, if there is still one, is higher then a new one. Thanks all Cor van Thiel "cvthiel" schreef in bericht ... I have a Ricoh 1200 LP Laser printer. It printed always verry nice, but now I get the message: Fuser to cold. Thanks all Cor van Thiel If the printer isn't working you might just disassemble the fuser, pull the lamp, see if it's burnt. There's likely model numbers on it, you "might" be able to order a replacement lamp only, if the rest of the assembly is still in good shape. As BOBU suggested, you might just need a thermistor or other thermal cutoff switch, which could be fairly inexpensive to replace if you can find the appropriate replacement. If it's crimped on, be sure to re-crimp the replacement, not low-temp solder. Dave |
