(2)7800gtx in sli/dual monitors?

I have just built a new system with 2 XFX 7800 GTX cards in sli mode. Can I
run dual displays in sli? I'm having one heck of a time, trying to get it to
work. I'm using the latest drivers from the nvidia web site. The two
monitors are dell 2001 fp.
if it matters:
A8N32-SLI Deluxe
4800 athlon 64 X2

The following is copied from the Nvidie website / FAQ n SLI

Q. How many video outputs does SLI technology support?

A.When a system with two GPUs installed is operating in
non-SLI technology mode, the system supports up to four
video outputs.
When a system is operating in SLI technology mode, only
one monitor is supported.
