Question on A7A266
Question 1. A friend of mine gave me a A7A266 after my Abit crapped out.
The board seems to be working fine, but for a reason I don't know or have the knowledge, the light on the keyboard NUM LOCK and the mouse light, (I have a MS optical) stay on after the computer shuts down. Question 2. There is a green LED light on the motherboard, does this light stay on after shut down, the only way this one would go off is to turn off the power supply, and then the keyboard and mouse light went off too. Any help would be appreciated. thank you, A.S. |

This would keep power to the keyboard so the computer can dectect a keyboard command. 2. The LED on the motherboard should stay lit. This is normal. Steve |

Any help would be appreciated. thank you, A.S. Many Asus motherboards have a jumper block that controls how an external device will be powered. The jumper block will have the option of using +5 or +5VSB. When powered by +5VSB, a keyboard for example, could be used to wake the computer, as the keyboard is always powered. If the keyboard were to run with only +5, then when you shutdown Windows, the keyboard loses power when the +5 gets turned off. Then, the keyboard cannot be used to wake up or start the computer, but the LEDs on the keyboard will also be off as well. The +5VSB only disappears when you use the switch on the back of an ATX powered computer. So, moving a shorting plug on the jumper block will solve your problem. The green LED monitors +5VSB and is there to warn you not to install or remove hardware when the LED is lit. You should shut off the power on the back of the computer and wait until the LED is off, before adding DIMMs or PCI cards etc. A safer policy is to just pull the cord from the back of the machine, as that guarantees there is no power inside the case.
