DVD drive doesn't read CDs
Don't think pressing the eject button would do it, all these things
are controlled by logic from the drives cpu chip, the tray is motorised and the logic would ignore the command if the CD was burning a CD. Lasers do go and anything can happen, from working with some disc and not others, I have come across many Home DVD players that will not play a DVD but will happily play a audio CD all day long, another sign is skipping and jumping, sometimes they can read TOC (Table of Contents) but nothing else. But never come across a DVD player that plays DVDs but not an audio CD, guess there's always the first time though. The clicking noise you can hear is probably the laser trying to focus on the disc looking for TOC, may be all that is required is a lens clean. Davy |
