Default Problems with Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 128MB DDR

Hello!
I've a Pentium 4 2400 with an Asus P4B533 motherboard (BIOS uploaded), 512M
and the nvidia of the subject.
The operating systems I use are Windows XP SP1 and Linux. I installed the
latest Detonator drivers on Windows and the latest nvidia drivers on Linux.
After the installation the computer crashes either on Windows or Linux and
the reboot is necessary. After the reboot the screen appears full of points
and I must turn off the computer to back to normality! Can anyone help me to
understand the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Giovanni
