** Call of Juarez ** Beautifull and Bad-ass Wild West Shooter :)
Hello,
I just finished playing Call of Juarez. I was up for a challenge so I decided to play it on hard. That probably ruined the game experience a little bit because I constantly had to reload. However on my fast pc that wasn't problem butting getting killed a lot was kinda annoying. The game is graphically very beautifull and the style is very cool. The slow motion/concentration mode is also very cool and the sound effect with the bow in slow motion is very funny and cool as well. The story was long, interesting and cool as well. All-in-all this was and is a very inspiring game. However I do hope to see more Wild West Shooters in the feature with more freedom and interaction with the environment and a more dynamic nature. I am sure many game developers will be inspired by this game. The main concept I would like to see in a future wild west shooter is: A game which lends itself for abuse and misbehaviour. As a player I would to misbehave and punch and slap everybody in the face if I would like to do so. The other people in the came like AI controlled humans could then react and punish me, like a sherif slamming me in jail, or starting a fight with people and getting my ass kicked or they get their ass kicked etc. I also like to shoot everything and everybody and every animal I come across. I simply want to provoke, destroy, kill, slap, punch, kick, ****, fart, burp, spit, laugh, shout and do everything that's possible to annoy people/ai and then the game/ai should react to that ! In case the development team has extra time left then the good could also be implemented so that the gamer can play as a Sherif which needs to keep the order in the city. I would also like to see a more dynamic nature where squirel run into trees, pigs rubbing in the mud, chickens picking around, birds in bushes, etc. I also like to kill all these animals. These animal should also be present in multiplayer, to function as a distraction for players and to give away there position sometimes. I like to see exploding birds with feathers flying all over the place when I shoot them. I like to see dead-shot-pigs, who sqeek when they get shot. The same for dogs ofcourse too. I would even like to pluck a chicken and eat it for extra health as a little funny joke but also fun gameplay. And ofcourse finally I would also like to play with cool bad characters from single player in multiplayer ! Simply to look cool in multiplayer and to see other cool characters in multiplayer. I would also like to smack peoples head with the bibble. I just read on a website that the bibble can be used to confuse enemies in CoJ lol... Never knew that... I am gonna try it later to see if it's really true. That could be funny... I wish I had know when I played it though... It could also use more bibble textes and voices. Anyway CoJ is a very good game for a first version. Now it's only fair to mention some drawbacks as well: The controls could have been better, for example, a single button to quickly invoke concentration mode would have been very handy. I would also like to use all kinds of weapons in concentration mode. I would also like to see concentration mode from a horse. There are some "bugs/exploits" in the game... there not really bugs... but just little thing which could have been better. The main character can only crouch and not lie on the ground. Sometimes I wish I could lie on the ground... that's a requirement these days in shooters ! If it's not present I really miss it. The end-boss said each gun only had 3 bullits. I managed to evade all 3 bullits but he kept shooting.. so that was kinda weird... maybe he reloaded eh ? I like to end positive... the game has many suprising gameplay elements... and it was kinda refreshing, interesting and inspiring in a way... for a first version... not bad at all ! =D I look forward to Call of Juarez 2 or any other Wild West Shooter. One last clarification: I don't like the concept of Grand Theft Auto... I don't want to beat up innocent people... I simply want to annoy and kill bad guys... But sometimes I want to shoot some innocent annoying people as well LOL =D Overall I give CoJ a two star rating... maybe the rating falls a bit low because I played it on hard and that was kinda annoying at times. So to make it a bit fair I shall give an individual rating: 1 star: ok 2 star: good 3 star: very good 4 star: terrific 5 star: awesome/mind blowing Graphics: 5 stars (very beautifull, large land scapes, nice suns, water, etc, special effects, fire, etc ) Sound: 3 stars (too much repetitive music, and sometimes annoying gunshots like the train scene, concentration mode is cool sound) Gameplay: 4 stars (inspiring, like to see more of it , can ride with horse and pursuits, hunting rabbits, etc ) Controls: 2 stars (this could definetly have been better, sometimes confusing in mid-action) Story: 5 stars ( very interesting and believeable and logical ) Environments: 5 stars ( diverse and interesting ) Multiplayer: 2 stars ( haven't played it that much yet... but I have seen worse... in this game it was addicting , not that much weapons so it gets only 2 stars) Menus: 1 star (could have been better, it's a bit dull and simplistic ) Save game options: 1 star ( too little save game slots ) Bye, Skybuck. |

This is an European version. Better check the publisher to make sure it isn't using Starforce: http://www.boycottstarforce.net/?m=200608 -- "War is the continuation of politics by other means.
