I am working on some documentation and making some kernel bug fixes for such machines and I need accurate information about the presence or absence of those specific instructions on various Cyrix 686 and AMD K5 and K6 series processors. Check out the CPUID instruction, that will give you all you need to know
about which instructions come with what. If the CPUID instruction itself is not supported, then you can only think of the processor as 486-class or lower. |
