Default PC Card Slot Won't Recognize Card

I have a Presario Laptop 12XL510A, running WIN ME. Best Buy service replaced
MB and card slot carriage (?) under warranty. Just got it back today, found
that it won't notice that a card is engaged in the slot. Was wondering if
there's a software switch or something to turn on. I know I can take it back
to BB, but don't want to be without for another two weeks. BTW, all the
cards work on other laptops.
Thanks,
Bill W
