I have never noticed the sliding of parts as you mention. That plus the
superior heat dissapation of the silver, well...there's my input for the OP.
Silver is not for the newbs.

Maybe I get a little bit carried away with applying too much pressure I don't
know but when I use it the heatsinks go sliding all over the place. I also
noticed that I put just a very small amount on and it still gets squeezed out
by the ram sinks I'm attaching. I don't think I have ever used it for the GPU
though. That has always been Alumina Adhesive.
There are ways around the problems I had though. You can use some clear
silicone for protection to coat the pins of video ram before using it or even
tape of some kind around the GPU before using the Arctic Silver Adhesive.

i agree with Tal, you can damage the gpu if your not careful, one eaiser and
safer way for more cooling would be to get a PCI slot type cooler ie: AOC
FC-2000-b system blower, i have one over my gpu fan and it takes up the
first pci slot...but so what it works great.

Can you take off the old heatsink ?
If it strongly sticked you might break the GPU while trying to remove it,

so
be carefull with that

Artic Silver Silver Adhesive providing it'll fit. I use that to
....
Good point. It's not for newbs but the thermal properties are far
superior than the Alumina. I had my HSF clamped on for 30minutes and

They say that the thermal properties of Ceramique are close to or better
than Arctic Silver without any of the conductive properties.

Thats true but we are talking about the thermal adhesives. They don't yet have
a Ceramique adhesive.
