Default Updating drivers

Can you update newer drivers over older drivers without first uninstalling
the older drivers?

ATI recommends uninstalling the Control Panel before installing the newer
drivers. (This is probably because the newest versions of the drivers come
with this as part of the install.)

NO NO NO.
Download new drivers (save to desk top) Uninstall old drivers then reboot.
Then install new drivers. Also make sure the control panel matches the
driver. ie 4.3 drivers with control panel for 4.3
