Will an AGP 4x slot handle an APG 2x card?

I have an ECS K7S5A Pro mobo with an AGP 4x slot built into it. Can I
use an AGP 2x card in the slot, or does the card have to be 4x?

You can put AGP 2 in it, it will just run at AGP 2 speed.

yes. just check the motherboard's specs at its website.

if its 4x agp, it usually means it can handle 4x and 2x agp.

however a 4x agp motherboard cannot handle an 8x agp video card. It
literally won't fit in.

The K7S5A Pro [V5.0] manual, available at the ECS web site, says only
1.5V AGP cards are supported. This would mean that old AGP 1.0, AGP1X/2X
cards are not supported. AGP 1.0, AGP1X/2X cards were 3.3V.

Yes it will, my nephew got a 4x motherboard and a 8 times card.
A two times card wil not fit in a 8 times slot

sorry my mistake.

yes a 4x motherboard will fit an 8x card.

just be sure the card is 4x & 8x. the later model cards are only 8x
and my guess is they won't work (as opposed to fit in) on a 4x
motherboard....

then again i may be wrong (yet again)

Yes it will, my nephew got a 4x motherboard and a 8 times card.

It should be fine, just don't force it. If the notches in the socket
line up with the notches in your card, it'll work OK.
