Presario 7585 with rivits holding the case on?
I want to install more memorey and a CD burner but much to my suprise there are 6 rivits on the bottom of the case! Do I have to drill out the rivits to get the case off? Is the Celeron 366mhz? It's from 1999 with WIN98-SE. Thanks for any info. |

No. There are three screws on the back. Remove those and the chasis slides
back out of the case. HH "fadeToblack" wrote in message ups.com... I want to install more memorey and a CD burner but much to my suprise there are 6 rivits on the bottom of the case! Some caveats about using a CD burner with a fairly slow computer:
1. Do not do anything else while burning a CD. 2. Set the CD burning speed at no more than 8x. 3. Do not use CD-RW media. Use only CD-R instead. CD burning is processor intensive, and the CD buring process is one that must be continuous. It cannot halt or pause for any reason, else the result will be yet another plastic coaster. CD-RW media are notoriously unreliable and have fallen out of favor. With the right CD burning software (e.g. Nero), you can update a previously burned CD. I do this all the time with a troubleshooting CD I carry, full of the latest anti-malware/spyware/virus software... You do realize that the average toaster oven sold today has a better, faster processor than your ancient Celeron? That proc was slow even in it's heyday...now a $9 Casio watch can outperform it. You could buy a Sempron based desktop today for under $300 that would absolutely run circles around your computer, and it would be a 64 bit processor to boot! For just a little more than you would pay for the burner and RAM for your old machine, you would have a modern computer, with a burner already in it. You have to eventually face that fact that putting any more money into that dinosaur of a computer is simply foolish. Honu |

Unfortunately, it won't. The 7500 Series Presarios did not have a removeable
side panel. The entire chasis slid back out of the case once 3 screws were removed from the back. HH "duff" wrote in message ... Hey ! Fade to Black Go here perhaps this will help you Duff http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...&product=94516 |

Hertz_Donut wrote: I You have to eventually face that fact that putting any more money into that dinosaur of a computer is simply foolish. it was given to me. I'd rather use this 566 Celeron (june 2000 build) than my older P2 350. tho the old box has a 19gig HD and 100mhz bus Win98 ME I've not been able to reformat or 'unlock' the HD. what I need to know is the second partition (System sav D 1.85gig is half full of compaq stuff: can I delete it all, most of it or will that screw up this machine w Win98 SE? |
