Default 1 TB Hard Drive recognized?

I have an ASUS P4P800-SE mobo.
I have been using an external USB 500GB HD
with no problem.
Will this board recognize these new 1 Terrabyte
external USB Hard Drives as well?
Thank you.

Yes, your mb has SATA so it can use 1TB HDD fine.

Yes. Where the difficulty may come is if you try to swap a 500GB drive
with a 1TB drive in an external USB2 enclosure, as whether it will work
is dependent on the firmware within the USB enclosure itself, and is not
related to the motherboard.

I think i've got the same problem with my K8S-MX board. If my 1TB USB
drive is plugged in while booting, it stopps at the moment where it
looks for all connected USB drives.

What could i do, what should/could be updated.

I had a similar problem with a Seagate 750GB Free Agent Drive on an ASUS
P5P800 motherboard. I contacted Seagate and they sent me a new drive
which has not had that problem.

Mine worked exactly the same. It took me a little time to decide the
problem was the drive as it worked perfectly except when booting. After
replacing the drive I didn't have any further problems with the drive
being connected while booting.
