Default 6800 GT, does it matter which brand?

I see compusa has the 6800 GT w/256mb DDR for $399 with a free copy of Doom 3.
Thats a pretty good price, even comparing online. The brand is PNY which is pretty respectable from what I can tell.
Prices online vary from $379 up to $450. Whats the difference? Are there any brands I should look out for? Dont they all have
the same 350hz RAMDAC and 1ghz DDR speed?

You do want to be careful about what manufacturer you purchase hardware
from. But that aside, the PNY is an excellent choice. The brand is
reliable.

I think PNY is one of the least respected brands because of its policy of
only providing warranty coverage for as long as they are producing the
specific card model (which can be quite short) and advertising it as a
"lifetime warranty".

Sounds like a close-to-fair deal since Doom3 is probably around $40.
I say that because I paid $350 for a BFG 6800 GT OC (overclocked out of the
box).
I got it from http://www.outpost.com
It's been running great.
So... that "free" part is not really true regarding Doom 3.

Sounds like the Tivo scam with their "lifetime" subscription service -
that's the lifetime of the Tivo you had when you signed up for it, not your
own lifetime. Once you replace the Tivo you have to buy another lifetime
subscription plan.

PNY's deal is much worse than that. It's not even the life of the card.
It's only as long as PNY is selling that particular model.

I have generally only heard bad things about PNY, but there are others
here who clearly think differently.
