Trusting asus probe?
I had an Asus A7N8X deluxe which stopped working, so I replaced it
temporarily with my old asus A7V333 and now asus probe 22204 is saying the CPU is running at 66C, I have the same case layout and the same CPU heatsink/fan on the A7N8X motherboard as I do on the A7V333 right now (asus probe said it was running at 34C on the A7N8X) I boot into the bios of the A7V333 and it says that the CPU is running at 44C, which still is warmer than it was on the A7N8X deluxe... the only possible thing I can think of is I added a little more thermal paste to the CPU that had came with my graphics card heatsink (heatsink silicon compound in the little clear package), which I think is the same stuff that came with my CPU heatsink so I thought it would work just fine... Should I go with what asus probe says or the BIOS? |

You might want to remove excess thermal paste. The best application
is about 2 molecules thick, as in REAL thin. An excess can actually increase temps. The MBM suggestion is also a good cross-check. MBM says the same thing as asus probe did, but now asus probe is saying the CPU is at 45C and MBM says it's at 67C... so I'm just going to go with the motherboard and leave it as it is. |
