Low cost cheap cases?

I'm a in a hurry "Phrederick" wrote : Hey all! Trying to build a QUIET computer for the wife... I've seen the Antec P160 and it's a NICE case, with all the connections and buttons right a the top of the case, not to mention a sharp look, but it's too much money, especially without power supply. I've looked at Antec's Sonata and it's a better deal at around $150 Cdn, but still a bit pricey. Also not impressed with location/look of USB/Firewire connectors and these will see lots of usage. I like the sideways mounted drives and 120mm fan setup of these two cases. Are there any low cost, quiet cases available out there? I haven't had much luck locating any. I'm going to be mounting Intel P4 2.6Ghz systems in here with largish SATA drives and I doubt there will be any overclocking involved. I've just built a system using this case, http://www.cclcomputers.biz/specs/ca.../bluenokia.htm http://www.cclcomputers.biz/acatalog/ Includes power supply. Fantastic internal design as well as USB sockets on the front side. See if you can source it in Canada. Only uses 1 hand release screw at the back to remove ALL the panels.Really neat Has places for 6 fans but I'm not a believer in over use and fitted one back case fan and a quiet CPU/HS combo from the same company for an AMD CPU 70 mm Fan(the bigger the slower so less noise etc). -- Free Windows/PC help, http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/trouble.html email shepATpartyheld.de Free songs download, http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/nomessiahsmusic.htm |

Because if it does come with a PSU the Antec brand is one of the best. And of course their cases are pretty decent too. I would never use a cheap PSU that came with a case. If they blow it can ruin ones year. Nick |

This will get a lot of use. I much prefer the setup on the Antec P160 case. If there was a cheap version of this case I'd jump on it. But it's $160 before you even get a power supply into it! I don't need aluminum, thanks! I was hoping to find some more quiet cases out there. Antec is the only "quiet" case maker that I'm aware of at the moment. |

Antec's "Solution" series sounds more like what you want then, has 120mm rear fan (though you may want to cut out the fan grill), can include an Antec SL350(W) power supply, as an example Newegg has it for $73 delivered: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...ion=11-129-122 Dave |

Plus it has 1mm thick sheeting, very important to me but some people don't mind thinner cases. I should mention that not all Solution Series cases have the 120mm fan in the rear, IIRC the older style has only an 80mm fan mount. Dave |
