My brother has a GF2 MX400 on WinXP Pro using the same driver
version, and it works fine. Try un installing the driver from the
Windows un install control panel, then use Driver Cleaner,
http://www.drivercleaner.net/, to remove any leftover files, and
registry entries that might be causing problems. Then reinstall the
driver. May not help, but it won't hurt either.

That older video card is NOT stable with the newer video driver versions.
Use the 45.23 driver for stability.

Warning. DaveW gives the same stock answer every time. I believe he gets
paid every time someone uses the 45.23's. He has never recommended any
other driver.

These drivers ARE backwards compatible with the older cards.

I had lots of problems with my geForce 4800SE using the 71.1.84 version
while running 98SE. So much so that I used an older version ( 64 I think )
or it wouldn't run at all, but the problems all went away after upgrading to
XP and re-installing the latest driver version.

I found the same thing. No matter what version of drivers I
used with any of the Nvidia cards I have under Win9x OS, they where
unstable. I think it is either DirectX, or something that is updated
in the OS that causes it to become unstable with Nvidia drivers. After
upgrading to Win2k/2003/WinXP, the new drivers are stable... Even on
an old TnT2.

Shut up idiot, 45.23? Is that the measurement of your mom's
stank hole?

hello woody,
well, my system is too old too run win xp. i mean, it would run but it would
take too much resources, so i stay with win98se. (by the way the geforce 2
mx 400 64 mb is also too fast for my board...2x agp..hehe).

well..it is a matter of fact that the newest driver doesnt run. direct3d
fails and dxdiag says my card has 2048 MB ram...

an older driver works...but some games wont run since they need a fully
directx 9 compatible driver...

*sigh*

computers...

anyways, thanks for all ur answers

Try the 61.76 driver set. It worked for me with Win98SE and DirectX9.

I have a TNT2 Model 64/Model64 Pro and it works *great* with the
61.76 drivers. I was using some old drivers by Microsoft and decided
to try Nvidia's drivers. So I had read in here where 61.76 were good
drivers so installed them and my video is more responsive than ever
and DVDs play much better now.
