At a guess Valve have decided that sales might be adversly affected if FX
card owners can't run the game properly so they have delayed the launch to
allow the code to be re-written.

Tony

Valve is reporting no such email was sent by anyone at Valve, it was a hoax.

Yep - looks like your right - several sites now reporting it as a fake e.g.

Check your source again, more carefully this time. You'll see that it is the
second email that is the fake.

My god, I'm shocked! A game not being released on it's pre-hyped target
release date.
Anyways..what happended to all that "confidence" over there at Valve?
Maybe it's the FX workaround...maybe not.

Gabe had too many BigMacs while Valve were out having lunch and got stuck in
the door on his way out, trapping the entire development team inside.

They are still in there as far as I know. Don't worry though, they won't
starve.
