BSOD wink32.sys Dell inspiron 4000
A friend has an Dell Inspiron 4000 (Celeron 600)that was upgraded from
Win ME to XP professional(Clean instal). It originally hd 64m of ram so I upped it to 256mb. This cured several problems including the 5 min startup time However, the machine still crashes often. The error codes a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA stop:0x0000008E (0x0000005,0xBF81DA06, 0xF4025AF4, 0x00000000) win32k.sys address BF81DA06 base at BF8000000 and at other times Stop: 0x00000050 (0xE1304000,0x00000001, 0x805276B3,0x00000001) there also was a mention at one point of an ATI file but I could not get the info in time. I have updated the BIOS and the ATI driver for this machine. I starts up and runs much better than before except of course for the BSOD. I have also noticed that 7 items use IRQ9 but none use 3,7,10, or 11. The seven items a MS ACPI system Ati mobility 3 (display) Wireless G Notebook adapter Texas instr. PCI-1420 cardbus controller (1) Texas instr. PCI-1420 cardbus controller (2) Intel PCI to USB host controller U.S. Robotics 56K MiniPCI fax modem This seems like a lot to share one IRQ. I haven't been digging in machines for a few years so I'm a little out of the loop on current stuff. Could the problem be that there are to many items sharing the same IRQ? and if so, How di you change that in Win XP? |
