Does Anyone Know ? - News Group Members?
I can understand and empathise your curiosity and your caution.
But this is a news group and generally the first reply you get is the correct one. Allbeit vague. Once the 'know it alls' (myself included) think you've had enough info, they then start to 'take the michael' (myself included). Everybody likes to be in some sort of 'last-resort-overide-control-mode', that's why the on/off buttons and plugs are finger/hand sized. This is also why the 'paperclip-hole' is on the FRONT of the unit. You have to realise that pc's were desinged to be located in offices and the nearest thing to hand would more likely be a paperclip rather than a 1/16" drill bit. What with the metric system and all. If all else fails, switch the pc OFF, and switch the drill ON - (I'm JOKING) - Couldn't resist it !!! Very best wishes, Richard Wheeler "G.M.Voeth" wrote in message ... Thanks to everyone who responded. I just found out it takes a good 3 or four pounds of force to get those CD Drive doors to open. It seems to take about the same amount of force as is needed to pull the trigger on a Smith&Wesson 38 special police revolver. You need to stick a 1/16 inch drill bit into the hole and push like hell and the drawer will open slightly enough for you to grab it with your fingers and pull it the rest of the way. It works on both the DVD player and also the R/W drive. "G.M.Voeth" wrote in message ... Hello, I have two CD Drives on my Presario on the face of the CD drives are little holes one on the face of each drive the hole is large enough for a 1/16 drill bit to fit into with a little slop to spare I am not going to experiment by sticking things into these holes and pushing. I suspect the holes are used for gear alignment or something like that during manufacture maybe some one here knows for sure. When I was in the military such holes would be used to pin gears in place so that A/D converters or synchromechanisms could be zeroed. If you know what they are for please tell me how they are used. -- Sincerely, G. M. Voeth No Emails. Too Many Spams. |
