emachines, powernet pwp165h, need larger

My emachine has a powernet 165W ps (pwp 165h)

It attaches on the rear chassis and is smaller than what
I usually see in most pcs. Is there a replacement available,
that will fit, that can deliver 250 watts?

What you have is called an SFX form factor power supply. Have never seen
one over 200 watts in rating. What are you planning in stuffing your
Emachine box that needs that much power?

Replacement yes, actually deliver 250W, no, though if you look long
enough you might find a generic overrated with "250W" printed on the
label.

The better mATX-L as yours is, can manage around 180-200W... probably
the 180W name-brands are every bit as good (or better than) the
off-brands rated for 200W.

Which Emachine model do you have? Which Video card? Sounds like you are
trying to put too much video card into the machine. Probably need more than
just a power supply update. A card that needs a lot of power generates a
lot of heat, and the typical emachine case will have trouble getting rid of
it. The rest of the machine might be slowing it down as well.

On the other hand, a quality PSU such as those from PC Power & Cooling or
Sparkle, etc.. could probably handle the card, even at the 180 to 200 watts
because that is a real rating, not the dreamed of specs of budget power
supplies.

I think you might be wise to move everything into a regular case with
decent power supply and cooling.

Never had one,but I suspect it's worth about the same # of watts as
the lower-priced Sparkle.

JT made a good point about the cooling, you would be better off to
just buy a new case with a decent =250W power supply in it.

It also depends on the specific video card though, some run hotter and
are more power-hungry than others. You mentioned PNY but they make a
few different cards.

I've got an old, hah, old, t1090. It's a 900MHz, 256MB box.
Went with the powersupply above, delivered $42. It had two
fans and was heavier than the org. The video card was 5200 pny
