DL380 Setup software

Hello,

New to the server scene, just picked up a DL380 and am looking for setup
info / software to initialize the raid drives.

Driver tip: From www.hp.com, click on Software & Drivers, and you get to
here.

Type in DL380 in the box.

If it's 3 rack units high, it's a G1
If it's 2 rack units high, it's a G2, unless the G is marked on the front
panel in which case it's a G3, G4 or G5

Let's assume it's not a G1 (Called just plain "DL380")
Download and burn the latest SmartStart CD:

Boot to SmartStart, do a system erase, and do an assisted install.

If it's a G1, you'd need SmartStart 5.50, which I think is not available for
download due to licensing reasons.

That's the easy way at least...

Later Smart Array controllers are configured the the RBSU (Rom Based Setup
Utility), so they can be configured from BIOS. It's that long since I've had
hands on a G1 that I can't remember which array controllers support this...
It would help if you knew which array controller you've got in the server.

Due to some issues reported with booting from that 5.5 iso, burn the CD with
the slowest speed your drive will allow.
