Default SCSI ASYN Mode

Can someone please confirm if a SCSI hotswap drive comes up reporting its
speed as ASYN, does this mean it is limited to 1.5 to 5 MB / sec? What
causes an ultra-80 device to back down to that speed?

Not cabling termination or adapter in this case since all other drives in
the same array come up at ultra-2 speeds.

Can you confirm what speed ASYN corresponds to?

pretty damn slow ...

have you tried the drive in another system to see what it can sync at? might
be a flakey connector, or backplane circutry. Also, have you tried another
drive in its place?

What kinda server and controller are you using ?
