Default Prolient 3000 Fan problem

Good Day,

A few weeks ago I posted a message here about a redundant fan. I just got
around installing the fan and I thought that it went fine, until I booted
the server up. I got the same error.

I checked the connection to the mother board and confirmed that the
connection was snug and since the pin can only go in one way I new that I
could not put the pin in the wrong direction. The old fan was frozen as I
could not even move it. The new one moves with out an issue. My question
is as follows.

To test the power or fan can I connect the new fan to the other connecter
with out issues to see if either the Fan is bad or the power connecter is
bad. Would this cause any issues?

Thanks
Adam Raff

Each of the four fans should be identical. You should be able to move them
around without problems.

Make sure which connector you plug the fan into though! It is easy to
misread
the labels on the motherboard, and accidently replace the wrong fan!

Does the new fan spin OK when you apply power to the system?

I think the 3000 will continue to show an error message until the failed
fan is marked
as repaired in the BIOS. There is a Window utility to do that, it can be
done
through Insight Manager, and I think it can be done from the Advanced part of
the
System Configuration Utility.

Know after getting the error I checked the Fan and the fan was not spinning
at all. I checked the fan agan and if feels free if I push the fan. Not
like the other one when I trided that.

I followed the old fan connection to the connecter and used that one so I
know I have the right connection.

That is why I wanted to know if I can switch them around to see if the fan
or the connection was shot.

Thanks
