nVidia GeForce 5700LE overclockability
Hello.
I've read 5700LE can reach two times its default core speed with it's default cooling, this is from 250/400 mhz to 480/600 mhz (core/memory). This is due to the fact that it has the same components as 5700 non ultra and ultra models. The performance also doubles, reaching the 5700 ultra's and 9600 XT's. FPS benchmarking was done in Halo. My question is: has anybody experience in overclocking this card, has any link with information or knows anything about this?. Given its low price (95€), if this is true, i'm likely buying it. |

It does overclock well, but usually only to low 300's/low 500's. Unless you're very lucky, you're unlikely to get mem up to 600, as the memory is, in most cases, only 4ns stuff. Performance-wise, it's somewhere between 0% and 80% (application dependant) better than the 5200 when both are at stock, which puts it around the (stoock) 9600SE. However, when overclocked it can get up to about 9600 NP levels, though is usually held back by the slow vram. I think you'd have a hard job getting it to 475/900 (5700U) without a reasonable investment in cooling (and it's VERY unlikely the vram will get anywhere near that fast). This is due to the fact that it has the same components as 5700 non ultra and ultra models. The performance also doubles, reaching the 5700 ultra's and 9600 XT's. FPS benchmarking was done in Halo. On the NV side, the 5700LE is quite good value-for-money wise if it overclocks well. However, I'd recommend you look at the 9600NP, which should be about the same price, and would IMO be a better buy. -- Michael Brown www.emboss.co.nz : OOS/RSI software and more Add michael@ to emboss.co.nz - My inbox is always open |
