Default IBM monitor fixable?

skrev i en meddelelse
news.com...
I've acquired an old IBM monitor 2124.

When first turned on, it shows good image for about 2 seconds then screen

goes
dark. Upon off and on again, same response. Power light stays on
all the time, but screen goes blank. I tried cleaning the male connector

and
jiggling the wire. Once it stayed on for about 20 seconds, then went dark.
What's the most likely cause of this. Could it be an intermittent wire?

Easily
fixable?

Bad soldering inside the monitor probably, should be fixable if you're just
a little skilled in soldering :-)

It is fixeble but you will have to know what you are doing. You will have to
replace a capacitor. Place the tube down and the solderjoints towards you.
The capacitor is on the fare rightside of the board about 5 to 7 cm from the
top. The caps value is 220pF/1kV. With the right skills and equipment its a
piece of cake. BUT if you don't have any idea what your doing, than don't

Succes
