Stable drivers?
I took a small form factor PC and turned it into a home theater PC.
Hauppage tv tuner card etc to use like a Tivo and dvd player in my living room. using Beyond TV software for the PVR function. Anyway, the video card in the system is a 6800 (not unlocked or anything). I was using the latest drivers from the Nvidia website, 81.98 and the system would hang or outright crash and restart. I got some drivers from guru3d.com version 77.77, which i dont think were standard Nvidia drivers, think they have been hacked or changed a little bit somehow.? I have been running them since last night and let the HTCP run al night and it was still going this morning without a crash. Does anyone have any advise on the best or most stable set of drivers right from nvidia i should be using? Thanks, Steve |

Stable drivers?
I've found the 81.85 WHQL drivers to be good in my system, no crashes
out to date. I have a Galaxy 6600GT, my system is Abit AN7 uGuru, Athlon XP3200+ Barton, 1GB Corsair XMS etc. etc. However I think I may have to change the drivers on my brother's PC which is based on a Socket A Sempron 2800+ and has an XFX 6200 in it. That seems to be crashing out of NFS Most Wanted a little too often but I think that may be the game even though it's got the latest patch. Before the 81.85, I found the 77.77 to be the most stable. There are both standard nVidia ones and tweaked ones at www.guru3D.com or you can pick them up from nVidia at the following locations for the 2k/XP or the XP 64-bit versions: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_77.77.html http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_77.77.html http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.85.html http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_81.85.html FYI on Guru3D, in my experience they *always* specify whether drivers are altered or not, the only thing I think they tend to do is repackage them so the download is slightly smaller and has their icon on it. Hope the links help, Neil. In message , Steve Ball writes I took a small form factor PC and turned it into a home theater PC.
