ATI Radeon 4870 & aspect ratio problem with fullscreen videos onan old CRT TV.
Hi.
I noticed all fullscreen videos on my 15 years old CRT have a little weird aspect ratio. Basically, everytthing squish vertically. Like people's head are more wider than the original source on my primary 19" LCD monitor. What's up with that and is there a way to fix that? I tried 640x480, but that cropped the video out so I had to 1024x768 even old TVs are 640x480. Yikes. Thank you in advance. -- "Ants die in sugar." --Malawi /\___/\ / /\ /\ \ Phil/Ant @ http://antfarm.ma.cx (Personal Web Site) | |o o| | Ant's Quality Foraged Links (AQFL): http://aqfl.net \ _ / Nuke ANT from e-mail address: NT ( ) or Ant is currently not listening to any songs on his home computer. |

The mix of old and new monitors is never easy. Aspect rations are the least of your problems. When I am watching TV on my new digital TV, the aspect ratio changes with the program material. One minute it is squashed horizontally, then it is stretched, then it is OK. All within 5 minutes of each other. Though I realize you are talking about a different area, you are fighting a loosing battle. Try every combination you can think of and see what works best with what you have playing. It's the best you can do. William |
