Default "Bruised" TFT - buggered?

Girl at work's just brought a new PC with a spanky 17" TFT flat panel,
least it was spanky.. apparently she bashed it with something so there's a
"bruise" right in the middle of the screen.

We have a couple that are like that at work and it got me
thinking/looking.. am I right that there's nothing can be done?

regards
Paul

Screen needs replacing, I'm afraid it's expensive.

Yep - its permanent. Could be worth a claim on home insurance?

It is only obvious who *you* were answering in your own post because I
have snipped it! Bottom posting without snipping is as bad as top
posting.

Lemme guess - it's a Dell, right?! Dell TFT's aren't expensive - if they
were why would they be charging so little?! It's a Dimension 2400 isn't it?
3.06GHz/533FSB/512MB RAM?
