Acer Aspire hardware or software problem - touchpad and keyboard

Problem with Aspire 3000 using Windows XP before and after recovery from
previously valid Ghost image AND also after use of recovery disks originally
supplied by Acer:

At welcome screen and thereafter, keystrokes processed very slowly (1 per
second) only if staying on key until recognition (leaning on key does not
eventually produce multis), touchpad motion is reflected well behind actual
motion, BUT USB mouse behaves just fine, including clicks.

All of the above does NOT occur in safe mode.

Any suggestions or solutions or additional information needed?

If the keyboard works ok in safe mode it has to be software or drivers.. Go
the device manager and look at the keyboard and touchpad drivers, etc.
Might give you a clue. Also, try unchecking startup items using msconfig.
Might be a bad driver loading that needs to be replaced.
