A7N8XE-Dlx sound not happening!
Hi All - I have recently bought an A7N8XE-Dlx mobo off eBay, along with a XP3200+. The mobo and cpu seem to be working fine - using DDR400 memory without any probs - and all appears stable (played HL2, Calll of Duty etc. without any errors). I'm using a MSI GF4 Ti4200 video card, and my mainboard is BIOS flashed to 1013, nForce drivers to 5.10, and ForceWare to 81.94. The problem is - there's no sound coming out of the socket at the back. I'm only using a bog standard set of headphones straight into the p.c (worked fine with my previous MSI mobo). There doesn't appear to be any conflicts or uninstalled devices in device manager - and I've played around with all of the settings in the nForce tray setup. It doesn't detect any hardware problems with the audio processors - and when I do the basic windows microphone setup it can detect my voice in - but will not relay it back out again. My question is - does anyone know of anything else I can try to see if I can get some sound out of this mobo before I sack it and buy an extra sound card?? -- thebarretthouse |

Check the user manual - you can download it from support.asus.com if the manual is missing - and section 2.7 has an item that explains where the two jumpers go on FP_AUDIO. The two jumpers provide continuity for Line_Out left and right channel. They allow Line_Out to be muted, if you connect an "Intel Compatible" front panel audio setup, and insert headphones into the front audio jack. With no front audio wiring, the jumpers have to go back in place. HTH, Paul |

A7N8XE-Dlx sound not happening!
Do not use the Microsoft web update to install there software for the sound
in the A7N8XE-D board. It wipes out the sound. You will have to get the original Asus install disk and reinstall. Joltjocky "thebarretthouse" wrote in message m... HTH, Paul Gr8 - worked a treat that Paul - as you suspected there were no jumpers in place on this block (is this normal?? all the other defaults jumpers seemed to be in place on the mobo which is why I missed it!). All working fine now - thanks for your help. -- thebarretthouse |

There is a jumper that controls whether the sound goes to the back or the front. As I recall (it has been a while) if the jumper is off the sound goes to the front. |
