8KNXP and Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu CPU Cooler
Works a treat exactly as Bob says.
Quiet? Definitely. If you want the DPS in, remove the fan - it runs cool anyway. Also, consider removing the fan for the nortbridge chip. If you want, put a zalman nb32j on the northbridge *during* assembly for better cooling. With a digital sensor on the outside of the nortbridge heatsink during normal running the stock heatsink with no fan running (but still mounted) is only a few degrees above ambient. You *do* need good air circulation for good results with this combo. The case interior will heat up quite a lot if the disc drives are being pushed and the airflow is not good. So 2 quiet fans in the front sucking in, 1 in the back pusing out & 2 zalmans = quiet. - Tim "David D." wrote in message om... Has any one tried this combination? Do I have to remove the DPS2 or will the fan/heatsink fit without removing it? Is this the best heatsink/fan for this board--with my main objective being total silence with enough cooling to either match or exceed the stock intel cooling? Dave |

I picked up the 6500 all copper unit at CompUSA and am very happy with it.
It is quieter than the intel hs/fan which had developed quite an annoying high pitched whine. I simply removed the dps 2's fan to make it all fit. It will block the first dimm slot.
