Default Motherboards...

What happened to the audio connectors for CD or DVD drives on motherboards?
I am building a system to be connected to a TV for demonstrations, video
conferencing, etc., & have a DG965SS Motherboard & see no place to connect
the DVD.
I noticed this on the last dozen or so systems I built using the D101GGCL
boards, but it wasn't a necessity, so I wasnn't concerned with it.
What's up wit' dat?

Each motherboard has its own list of features. Only its designers can
say why particular features are included or omitted.

I could see that on a mobo with no onboard sound, but with it, you'd think
chances are pretty likely that someone would be plugging a CD or DVD into
the board, huh?

I haven't used one of those things in years. You generally don't need it.
If you look at the properties page on a CD/DVD device there is a checkbox
for using digital audio data. The data is carried over the IDE cable.
