Default Motherboard Update

I am using a SATA hard disk with my Gigabyte motherboard. If I change the
motherboard can I plug my HD in and expect Windows to run without reloading
Windows and SATA drivers?

Is this a new (i.e. different) motherboard? Then Yes and No, Windows may or
may not boot up depending on the drivers loaded.

Windows sometimes gets confused when you radically swap the hardware and it
bluescreens.

Give it a try - but my personal preference is to do a clean install if the
motherboard is swapped.

If using XP boot from XP CD and run the "Repair" option. I've just done it
after changing m/b, CPU and RAM. Make sure you have XP serial handy, you'll
need it for the "Repair".

the answer is no
however you can do a repair install as mentioned in another post and this
retains your applications and setttings, files etc. Backup first, as
always....
It's never gone wrong on me yet though.
