Could this be a PSU problem?
Hi.
I've today upgraded my GA7-VAX with AMD 2000+ and 512Mb 2700 RAM to same motherboard with AMD 2700+ and an additional 512Mb 2700 RAM. My problem is this. Ever since doing this upgrade, the PC is messing about when it comes to starting up and shutting down. Problem 1. As soon as I plug in the PC, all the fans spring into life in the PC, case fans and CPU fans. This never occured before. Problem 2. The PC has trouble booting up. Never gets into the BIOS/System check, just sits there fans spinning. A few presses of the reset button sometimes gets it up and going. Problem 3. Shutting down also becomes a problem now. Windows shuts down. Pressing the power switch for a few seconds one of two things happens. Either the machine shuts down but again all the fans keep on spinning, or the machine shuts down normally, then maybe 20 seconds later it all comes back to life, but of course doesn't boot due to problem 2. Any ideas would be appreciated. Could it be my PSU isn't up to the job anymore? Would an upgrade of this kind require such additional power requirements? The PSU is a MACRON MPT-301 that supplies up to 300 W. TIA. Steve. |
