Default Are RAID1 disks controller dependent?

Previously Dave wrote:
Can I take a mirrored (RAID1) disk out of my system and just use it
normally? Do mirrored disks have any difference from a single system
disk?

They have differences. Since updates are not completely
synchronous, some administrative information is stored on
the disks.

If it is done sensibly (e.g. Linux software-RAID) this admin
info is stored at the end of the disk/partition, hence allowing
the use of the disk/partition unraided.

However other systems have a tehdency to tore the info-block at
the beginning, which interferes with the partition recognition.
It may still work.

Best bet, try it. If your partitions are seen, it works.
