nVidia board upgrade question
My honey has a GeForce 4, MX440 with 128MB in a 2GHz Gateway computer (before they were bought out) which is pretty well scaled in terms of added HD space and RAM, but it seems to scroll complex websites and PDF docs with difficulty, choppy that is. The board is an AGP if I recall correctly. What nVidia video board can it be replaced with in keeping with the technology of the 2 GHz Pentium CPU? What makes sense to get better scrolling capability? maybe even leaving the MX440 in place? -ed |

Check for things like antivirus software, or other programs that might be running in the background (browser plug-ins etc). Try booting in Safe Mode (if she's using Win2K/XP) and see if the problem still exists. |

Try downloading and installing the latest driver for that card and OS.....which would be the 93.71's for XP with an GeForce4 MX440. |

I recently re-installed her OS and cannot recall what drivers are in there. It's early.. I'll start it up now and examine. It has 93.71 and scrolling a webpage (the default) is choppy. It can't compare with my GTS 250. ) -G |
