Default AIW and Windows Gamma Problem

Hi,

Searched the internet and no help, so hope someone here can shed light on a
problem.

I have an AIW on Win XP, SP1 and during the boot process the screen goes to
the correct gamma settings (and brightness), then it changes slightly, and
at the end of the system boot/login the screen goes dark with the gamma
settings being ignored.

1. I updated to the latest Catalyst drivers, same problem.

2. I removed the Adobe Gamma from startup - same problem.

3. Adjusted the gamma in the ATI advanced settings - reboot and at end
screen goes dark again.

4. Removed any windows type smoothing which I understand can affect gamma -
same problem.

Interestingly, if I right click on the ATI tray icon and just open the
settings - the correct gamma appears!

I then put back the Adobe gamma - same as above - when I just open the Adobe
gamma without doing anything else, the correct gamma gets applied to the
scree.

Anyone have any ideas of what windows component or action might be causing
this? Very irritating when editing photographs to have to remember to check
the gamma everytime I boot the PC.

Many thanks,

Stewart
