My Gigabyte 8KNXP died ... again ...
Well, it has been almost two years since I last posted here. But much
like my previous post in ... http://groups.google.ca/group/alt.co...f 76dc82cf784 ... I now find myself, for the second time, the (unfortunate) owner of a failed Gigabyte 8KNXP Rev. 1 board. Strangely, the failure (this time) was a lot like my original failure -- I usually leave my computer on most of the time, but for some reason, I decided to turn it off before I went to bed ... and when I woke up the next morning, it wouldn't POST. (I re-seated the RAM, the video card, blew compressed air, unplugged the hard drives; I even tried to plug in the extra 3-phase power supply card that came with the board, all to no avail.) Bummer. Kris. |

Kris. Have you/can you check the PSU on another PC or do you have a spare PSU? To explain, the same thing happened to my setup (same mobo) about 6 months ago and it turned out to be the PSU (OCZ - not exactly a budget model). Shut it down after months of near flawless operation and suddenly no POST, no fans, no nothing. I got a spare mobo, CPU etc plugged in the old PSU - same result. Got my old Antec 300 watt from under the bed plugged it into the Gigabyte board and voila - it booted just fine. BillL |
