Fixing HDD errors
Hi all. My Maxtor 120GB has showed up Index and Security Descriptor errors
under Norton Disk Doctor. I have run Check Disk with both options for fixing file system errors and bad sectors. But the problems don't go away. How can I fix the problems permanently? TIA. |

It sounds like an OS/file system problem, as you state it. Look in Event Viewer. -- a d y k e s @ p a n i x . c o m Don't blame me. I voted for Gore. |

Thanks Al. It is Win XP Pro SP 2. There are no more errors under Event
Viewer now but there were when my slave drive was in there (which I suspect was causing the system to freeze intermittently - now removed). How are OS.file system errors fixed? Scandisk has the option to fix file system errors right? Or it is necessary to do a OS repair? Btw here are the previous errors if relevant: Event Type: Warning (repeated instances) Event Source: Disk Event Category: None Event ID: 51 Date: 3/17/2005 Time: 5:31:56 PM User: N/A Computer: LKS-B5M4QRKWCB2 Description: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\D during a paging operation.
