We need more information.. is this a home network or what ? are you
running a DHCP server, etc or just using Microsoft's Internet Connection
Sharing ? Are you running windows or what ?

Depending on your setup you either need to configure the DHCP server to
always issue the same IP to a specific machine (actually a specific network
card), or give your laptop and desktop static IP's if it's really a big
issue..

One simple thing you can try that might work tho, is starting the desktop
first and see if it gets the lower IP.. (some DHCP servers issue the highest
number first, others the lowest, experiment and see what happens)

Regards,
Chris
