Default msi 648 max memory problems - what worked for me

Hi,

I recently had a problem whereby when I added a third memory module to my
MSI 648 Max motherboard the memory was sometimes corrupt when reading or
writing to it.

This was with 3*512MB pc2700 ram. I tried one other chip in the third memory
slot and saw the same problems.

I noticed that similar problems were discussed in this group in 2003, so
this is what worked for me:

- This memory tester consistenly found the problem:
http://www.memtest86.com/
- Setting the CAS latency setting in the BIOS to 3 sorted things out

Hope this is helpful to someone. Cheers,

Roch
