Default GA-7n400 Pro 2

Can anyone recommend this board. I am building my 1st PC and have to
chosen to go with this board along with an xp2800+ barton. I would
appreciate any one using the same configuration letting me know if
they have had any problems with their boards to-date

I've got one of those boards, revision 1, and a 2800 barton too strangely
enough ... had no problems with it at all and the only part of the board
I'm not using is the SATA controller purely because I had enough drive space
when I'd moved the hdd's from my old machine.

Not sure if you can still get the rev.1 boards or not, probably not to be
honest, but afaik the rev.2 boards are the same except for an improved ide
raid controller ... the only the board didn't come with was the gameport
adapter, which I thought a bit strange considering all the other features
the board has then to scrimp on a gameport adapter but include a firewire
one?! shrug

btw anyone know where to get the gameport adapter in the UK?

hope that helped

Mal

Only issue I had was with the heatsink I had used on another board
that wouldn't fit due to a capacitor near the CPU socket interfering
with the large heatsink.

Got the rev1 with an AthlonXP 2400+, runs great. Got it farily well
loaded out too, using the IDE RAID (2x80GB), both IDE channels (160GB HD,
2.4x DVD+RW, 16x DVD-ROM), and the SATA controller (WD RAptor 36GB)

Not using the on-board sound though, so I can't comment on how good it
is, and removed the Firewire backplate the other day, as my Audigy has
the Firewire...

Good board I'd say..

I love this board. OS is XP sp2. Definately a reccomended board. I had
issues running my setup on Abit and Asus.

AMD 2600+
Corsair 2x 512 PC3200
Adaptec AAA131 SCSI raid controller
Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller
ATI 9800pro.
IDE DVD Burner

No problems with onboard sound or NIC
