How to Update BIOS
Make a Start/Boot up diskette. You can do this by:
Insert a floppy disk into your computer's floppy drive. Open My Computer, and then click the floppy disk drive to select it. On the File menu, point to the name of the floppy drive, and then click Format. Under Format options, click Create an MS-DOS startup disk. Click Start. Download the correct bios update file for your motherboard. Once downloaded, extract the files in some temp directory. The files will include the Bios update file, and probably flash utility. Add those files to the DOS startup diskette you made. Read any readme in the bios download file. Copy the Bios file name on paper. Before flashing, it's a good idea to reboot, go into your BIOS and copy down most of your BIOS settings. Now, when you're ready, reboot, set your BIOS settings to DEFAULT SETTINGS. Save and exit to windows. Insert the startup diskette you made with the Bios file and flash utility. Reboot again and your DOS startup diskette will take you to A: prompt. At Arompt, type whatever the exact name of bios file or what you were instructed to type at A: prompt. Once bios upgraded, reboot and reset your BIOS settings from Default settings to what they were before you set them to Default settings. Christopher wrote: Hi! Does anyone know how to update the BIOS for an A7M266-D motherboard? I heard that the 1010b version isn't sufficient for MP2800+ processors w/o upgrading to 1011b. How does one go about upgrading the BIOS? Thanks |
